- Never state the amount. Reference the purpose instead.

Deadlines, division of labour, and tracking
- The 'one year' rule is a myth. One month after the wedding is the real expectation.
- Write 10 a night for a week rather than 70 in one sitting; quality collapses after about 12.
- Split the list — each of you writes to your own side, and you both sign every card.
- Track gift, giver, and 'sent' status in one list as gifts arrive, not afterwards.
- Handwrite every card. A typed or printed thank you is worse than a late handwritten one.
